How to Transfer Photos from Phone to Computer?

This method of transferring photos and files to a computer requires your phone to be connected to the machine until the transfer is complete. You will be using the data cable that came with the device or any third-party cables that work perfectly with your phone. Here’s how you do it:

  • Connect your Android to your computer.
  • When prompted to choose a connection type, tap Media device (MTP).
  • On your computer, open the File Explorer.
  • Click your Android phone’s name. If you can’t find it, then try clicking on This PC in the left sidebar.
  • Double-click the “Internal storage” or “SD card” folder. If you have a microSD card mounted on your phone and you saved your photos in there, then click SD card, otherwise, they must be saved in the internal storage.
  • Double-click the “DCIM” folder. This is the default folder where all photos and videos taken by your phone’s camera are saved.
  • Double-click the “Camera” folder.
  • Select the photos you want to transfer and then right-click on selected photos and choose Copy.
  • You may then paste them to a folder in your computer so the download will begin. Depending on the number of the photos you’re copying, this process may take a few minutes to complete. But once done, you may now delete the photos from your phone. It’s better to copy them and not to cut just to make sure you can successfully create a copy of each item before you delete the source files.
