Difference between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0


USB stands for Universal serial bus. It provides a way do connect a compete to other devices such as smart phones, digital cameras, printers, scanner etc. It is supported by the major operating system. When a usb device is connected to a pc the operating system detects the device and install necessary drivers which are needed to use it. The first usb was released in January 1996.There are four generations includes.

USB 2.0: USB 2.0 is also know as hi-speed usb or high band with usb. It was released in April 2000. It supports transfer rate up to 480 mbps. It is a up date version of usb 1.1 and developed by HP, Intel, Lucent, Microsoft, NEC and Philips jointly.

USB 3.0: USB 3.0 also known as super speed USB released on 12 November 2008. It supports data transfer rate up to 5.0 GBPS. It is the latest version of the universal serial bus that developed by HP.
